A steer bred by Violet Hills and exhibited by Hurlstone Agricultural High School won the Reserve Champion Heavy Weight Carcase Award. The steer was a purebred Charolais, sired by Violet Hills Alexander.

2011 Australian National Field Days Steer Competition

A pen of 3 purebred Charolais steers entered by Violet Hills won the John Sharpe Perpetual Trophy for the Champion pen of 3 steers. They scored the highest total points for live weight gain, live judging, carcase and yield. Contributing to their win was first place (class 2) live weight gain on grass, and first place for pen of carcases.

The competition involved 31 teams. All were backgrounded on grass for 80 days and then fed at Gundamain feedlot for 100 days. They were slaughtered at Cargills, Wagga Wagga, VIA scanned, MSA graded and visually assessed by Jeff House from NSW Primary Industries.

The steers were all registered progeny of Violet Hills Alexander.
